Kuapa Kokoo is a cocoa farming cooperative founded in 1993 by leading farmers who saw the need to organise and set up their own cocoa business. The name 'Kuapa Kokoo’ comes from the Twi language and means 'good cacao crop’.
Kuapa Kokoo became Fairtrade certified in 1995. As a result, for the sale of certified cocoa, the cooperative receives a Fairtrade premium, which goes towards investments for individual farmers, training, infrastructure and social projects, as well as organisational support. In this way, Kuapa Kokoo is helping to improve the living and working conditions of farmers and their families.
